Chamarajanagar: A pulse polio campaign will be conducted across the district on December 21.
Karnataka: Under the National Pulse Polio Program, all children under 5 years of age are being given the pulse polio vaccine from 8 AM to 5 PM on December 21st.
In both urban and rural areas, the first day of vaccination will be on the 21st at vaccination centers. In rural areas, door-to-door vaccination will be conducted on the 22nd and 23rd. Door-to-door vaccination will also be conducted in urban areas on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.
41,715 houses in urban areas and 2,08,596 houses in rural areas will be visited. The target is to vaccinate 61,161 children in the district.
In Chamarajanagar taluk, 20,480 children are being vaccinated, of which 6,801 are in urban areas and 13,679 in rural areas. In Gundlupet taluk, 12,404 children are being vaccinated, of which 1,963 are in urban areas and 10,441 in rural areas.
In Kollegal taluk, 10,401 children will be vaccinated, of which 4,028 are in urban areas and 6,373 in rural areas. In Hanur taluk, 12,241 children are being vaccinated, of which 926 are in urban areas and 11,315 in rural areas. In Yelandur taluk, 5,635 children are being vaccinated, of which 511 are in urban areas and 5,124 in rural areas.
612 pulse polio booths have been opened in the district, of which 93 are in urban areas and 519 in rural areas. 189 booths have been opened in Chamarajanagar taluk, 156 in Gundlupet taluk, 90 in Kollegal taluk, 133 in Hanur taluk, and 44 in Yelandur taluk. District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. S. Chidambaram stated that 130 supervisors and 2,528 vaccination workers have been deployed across the district to oversee the program. 25 transit teams and 4 mobile teams have also been formed.
