MP: The Income Tax Department conducted major raids at several locations in Jabalpur.

Madhya Pradesh: The Income Tax Department (I-T) conducted major raids on Wednesday in Jabalpur, Katni, and Satna in connection with cases of unaccounted wealth and tax evasion. Teams from Indore and Bhopal simultaneously searched the premises of mining businessmen and political figures in all three cities.
In Jabalpur’s Civil Lines area, Income Tax officials raided the residences of mining businessmen Rajiv Chadha and Nitin Sharma. When the team arrived at one of the businessmen’s houses, a poster on his car advertising a “Swachhta Jagrukta Abhiyan 2025” (Cleanliness Awareness Campaign 2025) initially confused the security guard, who thought it was a municipal corporation team conducting a survey. He later realized it was an Income Tax raid. The team also raided Nitin Sharma’s house at Russell Chowk, where several documents were seized and are being examined. Sources suggest that this investigation could uncover significant tax evasion.
Meanwhile, in Katni, raids were conducted at the residences of District Panchayat Vice-President and BJP leader Ashok Vishwakarma and his three brothers. The Income Tax team searched Vishwakarma’s house, his firm VMC Vishwakarma Mines, and several locations associated with his bauxite mining operations. Vishwakarma and his brothers own a house in Jalpa Ward and operate mining businesses in Tikariya and Singhanpuri villages.
