Tamil Nadu: Electricity board employees will continue their strike from February.

Tamil Nadu: Electricity board employees have announced that they will hold continuous protests across Tamil Nadu from February to press for their demands.
In this regard, T. Jayashankar, General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Employees Central Organization, told reporters on Wednesday:
Electricity board employees should be given the pending salary increase from December 1, 2023. In addition, more than 46,000 vacant posts in the electricity board should be filled. The electricity board should identify the contract workers working in heating, cooling, and general construction areas and pay them a daily wage of ₹766 directly, and 9,613 gangmen should be transferred to the field assistant post. This continuous protest will be held at electricity board offices, emphasizing several demands, including the implementation of the smart meter project through a government scheme similar to the one in Kerala. The protest will continue until the demands are met.
