Jalandhar: Rural district police have launched a cordon and search operation against drugs.
Jalandhar: Intensifying its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and anti-social elements, the Jalandhar Rural Police today conducted a special checking and cordon and search operation (CASO) in various parts of the district. The operation was carried out under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (Jalandhar Rural) Harvinder Singh Virk and under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Sarabjit Rai. During today’s operation, strict vigilance was maintained in the targeted areas. Seven cases were registered and eight people were arrested, from whom 313 tablets and two grams of heroin were recovered. The police also received several important leads and information during the operation, based on which further stringent action will be taken.
Intensive checking was conducted at places suspected of drug-related activities, including bus stands, vacant buildings, open fields, and sensitive areas. Police teams checked suspects, searched vehicles, and assessed the security situation on the ground. SSP Virk stated that the rural police are continuously taking action against drug traffickers and their associates under the “War Against Drugs” campaign. He said that the police’s main objective is not only to take legal action but also to save the youth from drug addiction and reintegrate them into mainstream society. The SSP (Jalandhar Rural) clarified that if any youth is found involved in drug use, they will be connected with de-addiction centers for rehabilitation, while those supplying drugs will be dealt with strictly.
