Case seeking cancellation of SI elections: Hearing adjourned till February 24

Tamil Nadu: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court recently postponed the hearing of a case seeking cancellation of the Assistant Inspector of Police (SI) election and holding a new election until the 24th.
Gurusamy and Anandaraja from Tenkasi filed a petition in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court: The exam for the post of Assistant Inspector of Police was held on December 21st last year. Section ‘B’, as specified in the syllabus, contained no Tamil questions. Instead, 10 additional questions were asked from the Psychology section. This is unacceptable.
Therefore, they demanded that the Assistant Inspector of Police election be temporarily suspended, and the election be cancelled and a new election be held.
This petition was recently heard before High Court Justice P. Pugazhendhi.
At that time, the lawyer representing the petitioner argued: The exam syllabus stated that 10 questions would be asked from Tamil. However, questions were not asked in Tamil. The exam results were released without disclosing the qualifying score (cut-off). He said this was unacceptable.
The lawyers representing the government argued: a technical error had caused the election results to be withdrawn. The errors would be corrected. The election results would not be released until the 24th.
Following this, Judge Pugazhendhi issued an order: Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Selection Board to file a detailed reply on the matter. The judge said that the hearing on the matter is postponed until the 24th.
