Fire at Ecuador’s largest oil refinery, operations temporarily shut down

Business Business: A fire broke out in a fuel oil tank at Ecuador’s largest oil refinery on Monday, which state oil company Petroecuador and the energy minister said was under control. Petroecuador said the refinery had temporarily suspended operations for safety reasons.

The company also said all personnel at the Esmeraldas refinery were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and structural damage.
