CM to inaugurate Porunai Museum on December 20

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurate the Porunai Museum in Tirunelveli on December 20th, Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru announced.

Municipal Administration Minister and District In-Charge Minister K.N. Nehru inspected the construction of the Porunai Museum on the Rediyapatti four-lane road near Palayankottai on Friday.

At the time, he issued several instructions to expedite all work. He then told reporters:

The Porunai Museum has been built at a cost of ₹56 crore to showcase Tamil Nadu’s 3,200-year history.

Its construction is complete. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurate the museum on December 20th.

Similarly, he will inaugurate and dedicate to the public the new expansion building at the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital, constructed at a cost of approximately ₹200 crore.

The Northeast Monsoon is intensifying in Chennai and surrounding areas. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the impact of the rains in Chennai will be significant. However, the government is prepared to handle any rainfall.

Due to ongoing rainwater drainage work in Chennai, even a 15 cm rainfall will not affect Chennai. The rainwater will drain away completely without stagnation. Even if more rain falls, the infrastructure has been prepared to ensure that the water can drain away within a few hours.

The Tamilkurichi Dam, built on the floodwater canal in Tirunelveli, has breached again this time, just like last year. He stated that repair work is being carried out on a war footing and it will be fully repaired soon.

During the inspection, District Collector R. Sukumar, Municipal Police Commissioner Santosh Hathimani, Palayankottai MLA M. Abdul Wahab, Mayor K. Ramakrishnan, Municipal Commissioner Monica Rana, and Deputy Mayor K.R. Raju, Tirunelveli West District DMK Secretary R. Aavudayappan, East District Secretary Graham Bell, Chief Executive Committee Member Prabhakaran, State Agricultural Workers Union Deputy Secretary Ganeshkumar Adithan and several others attended the function.
