Jalandhar: The Child Begging Prevention Task Force conducted a raid in the district and rescued 10 people.

Jalandhar: Following orders from Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, of the Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, the district-level Child Begging Prevention Task Force conducted raids in Jalandhar today and rescued 10 children involved in begging. According to District Program Officer Manjinder Singh, the rescued children are aged between 6 and 14 years, including six girls and four boys. They underwent medical checkups at the Civil Hospital in Jalandhar.
Singh said that these operations are part of the ‘Jeevanjot Project’ being run by the Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, which aims to eradicate child begging. Teams led by Singh and District Child Protection Officer Ajay Bharti conducted raids at major intersections, including the city bus stand, while Child Development Project Officers carried out checks in various blocks of the district. After the medical examination, the children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee, Jalandhar. Singh further added that in accordance with the Punjab government’s directives to eliminate child begging, such rescue operations will continue to make Jalandhar a begging-free city.
