Preparations for two new industrial parks in Bihar

Patna. The state government has taken another significant step to accelerate industrial development in Bihar. Two new industrial parks will be developed in the state. The Department of Industries has submitted a proposal to the central government for this purpose. The plan entails developing industrial parks across a total area of ​​1,050 acres in the Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga districts. Priority will be given to companies associated with the manufacturing sector in these parks.

The state government intends to develop these industrial parks under the ‘Bharat Industrial Development Scheme’ (BHAVYA). On Friday, the Department of Industries submitted both proposals to the central government for the first phase of the BHAVYA scheme. Once the proposals are approved, work will commence to strengthen industrial infrastructure in Bihar.

According to the plan, an industrial park will be developed on 700 acres of land in the Paru area of ​​Muzaffarpur district, while another new industrial park will be established on 350 acres in Darbhanga district. The state government has already identified the necessary land for both locations and is now awaiting approval from the central government.

As per the Department of Industries’ proposal, the central government will provide financial assistance of ₹1 crore per acre for the development of the industrial parks. Consequently, total financial assistance of up to ₹1,050 crore is expected for both parks. These funds will be utilized to construct roads, power supply systems, water facilities, drainage networks, common amenities, and other essential infrastructure within the parks.

Additionally, the central government may provide further assistance to improve external connectivity for the industrial parks. The proposal suggests that up to 25 percent of the project cost could be provided as additional support to develop external connectivity infrastructure. This will facilitate the linking of these industrial zones with main roads, railway networks, and other transport facilities.

The state government believes that the establishment of these new industrial parks will create fresh investment opportunities in Bihar. In particular, the arrival of manufacturing companies is expected to boost employment opportunities and strengthen the local economy. The expansion of industrial activities is also anticipated to benefit small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Muzaffarpur is already considered a significant region in terms of industry and trade. Alongside agro-based industries, various other commercial activities operate here. The establishment of an industrial park in Paru is likely to pave the way for new industries in the surrounding areas. This will not only provide employment to local youth but also boost economic activity in the region.

Meanwhile, the development of an industrial park in Darbhanga is expected to greatly benefit the Mithilanchal region. There has long been a demand for industrial expansion in Darbhanga and its neighboring districts. The new industrial park could encourage investment in the area and facilitate better utilization of local resources.

The Department of Industries aims to boost industrial investment in Bihar and transform the state into a robust industrial hub. The government is continuously working on new industrial policies, investment incentive schemes, and infrastructure development; these new industrial parks are part of that strategy.

According to officials, once the proposal receives approval from the central government, processes such as land development, infrastructure construction, and other necessary formalities will commence. Subsequently, industries will be invited to invest there. Plans are in place to provide excellent facilities to companies investing in the park, making it easier for them to set up production units.

Industry experts state that developing large industrial parks in a state like Bihar is crucial for both employment and investment.
