Maharashtra: Continuous heavy rainfall has worsened the situation. Following Monday’s heavy downpour, flooding, and landslides, traffic on both the Pune-Mumbai Expressway and the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway has been completely halted. Police and administration have taken this decision, citing safety concerns.

According to police, the region has been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall for the past few days, leading to landslides and debris on the roads in several hilly areas. In light of these circumstances, all vehicular traffic on both major routes has been suspended with immediate effect.

Officials stated that traffic on both the Pune-Mumbai Expressway and the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway has been completely halted, and this restriction will remain in effect until further notice. The administration clarified that no vehicular movement will be permitted until the situation normalizes and the road is declared completely safe.

The police have also issued a public advisory in this regard, urging people to avoid unnecessary travel between Pune and Mumbai. Travelers have been advised to rely only on official weather and traffic information and to avoid any rumors.

Heavy rains have caused waterlogging and reduced visibility at many locations, increasing the risk of road accidents. The administration has taken this precautionary measure, especially in the Ghat areas, due to the potential for landslides.
