Vande Bharat Hits Overturned Autorickshaw Near Varkala In Kerala

A Vande Bharat Express train narrowly avoided an accident in Kerala. The loco pilot, who noticed an auto parked on the track, acted alertly and saved the lives of the passengers. The incident took place near Akathumuri halt station in Thiruvananthapuram.
According to the details revealed by the railway officials, at 10.10 pm on Tuesday night, while the Vande Bharat train was passing the Akatumuri halt station, the loco pilot noticed an auto overturned on the railway track. He immediately applied the emergency brakes and stopped the train. However, as the train was moving fast, it did not stop immediately. It pushed the overturned auto a few meters away. However, as there was no one in the auto, there was no loss of life.
If the loco pilot had not been alert, the train would have derailed and the accident would have occurred. However, the Railway Protection Force personnel and local police, who reached the spot immediately after the accident, removed the auto from the tracks. After inspecting the track safety, train services resumed at 11.15 pm. An auto driver named Sudhi overturned his auto on the tracks while under the influence of alcohol.
After that, he was unable to get the auto out of there and slipped. However, the police, who registered a case and started investigating the incident, identified Sudhi and arrested him. An investigation into the incident is underway.
