215 relief centres in Chennai: One lakh milk powder and food items ready

Tamil Nadu: The Chennai Corporation has prepared 100,000 milk powder packets and 100,000 food packages for distribution to the elderly and children.

The Chennai Corporation has taken necessary precautionary measures to deal with Cyclone Titwa.

215 Relief Centers: 215 relief centers are ready with basic amenities such as food, drinking water, and sanitation. 110 kitchens have been set up to serve meals to residents. On Sunday, the Corporation Administration provided breakfast to approximately 32,500 residents of Adyar Zone Ward 172 and Sholinganallur Zone Wards 192, 198, 199, and 200.

Rainwater accumulated on the Thiruvottriyur Highway in Ward 14 of the Thiruvottriyur Zone was removed using a water suction machine. Special medical camps were set up at 20 locations to prevent the spread of disease.

Boats, personnel, and vehicles ready: 103 boats, 60 personnel from the National Disaster Response Force, and 30 personnel from the State Disaster Response Force are ready to rescue people living in low-lying areas and house them in relief centers.

1,496 motor pumps of varying capacities, including motor pumps and tractor-mounted pumps, are ready to drain out rainwater.

In addition, a total of 478 vehicles and machinery are ready, including two and three amphibious excavators, six multi-purpose robotic excavators, three mini amphibians, seven super sucker vehicles, and 15 Shaktiman tree branch removal vehicles.

22,000 people are working, including corporation officials, engineers, workers, and cleaners.

A total of 457 tree surgeons, including 15 hydraulic tree surgeon vehicles, 2 hydraulic ladders, 224 portable tree surgeons, and 216 telescopic tree surgeons, are on standby to remove fallen trees. On Sunday, branches from seven trees that fell on the road were quickly cut and removed.

Opening of a Control Center: A 24-hour Integrated Command and Control Center has been set up at the Corporation office.

People can contact this center through the helpline number 1913. 150 connections have been established to respond promptly to calls.

1 Lakh Milk Packets and Food Items: A package containing 1 lakh Aavin milk powder packets and 1 lakh food items has been prepared for distribution to the elderly and children.

The Chennai Corporation Administration stated that this package contains 5 kg of rice, 1 kg of pulses, and 1 liter of palm oil.
