A jury member was mistreated at an IFFK screening; a case has been filed against P.T. Kunju Muhammed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case has been registered against director P T Kunju Muhammad following a complaint by a film activist during the film screenings for the International Film Festival. The activist alleged that the director misbehaved with her. The complainant, a film activist and jury member, had written a letter to the Chief Minister against Kunju Muhammad, who was the chairman of the jury. The first phase of the local body elections has begun; voting is taking place today in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam.

According to the complaint, the director, who is also a supporter of the Left, misbehaved with her at a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram after the screening of a film. The police have registered a case for insulting a woman and have launched an investigation. The incident occurred during the first week of last month, during the selection process for Malayalam films for the 30th IFFK, which is scheduled to begin on December 13. Meanwhile, Kunju Muhammad came forward and denied the allegations, saying that the complainant might have misunderstood his behavior. The award-winning director also said that he would apologize if necessary. The Chief Minister forwarded the complaint to the Cantonment police station. The Cantonment police have sought information from the film producer. The Cantonment police have also collected CCTV footage from the hotel.
