Punjab: Blue Corner notice against Canada-based drug smuggler

Punjab: Interpol has issued a Blue Corner Notice against Canada-based drug trafficker Satpreet Singh Thiara alias Satta. The action comes following a recommendation by Punjab Police. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Punjab Police is probing an alleged drug smuggling racket linked to Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia. Satta, a native of Banga village in Nawanshahr, was made a co-accused in an NDPS case registered against Majithia in December 2021.

Investigation found that Satta used to visit India regularly between 2007 and 2013 while the Bhola drug network was active in Punjab. The accused was linked to an international drug racket worth Rs 6,000 crore. Blue Corner Notices are used to gather additional information about the identity, location or activities of a person.
