Youth arrested for duping job seekers of Rs 40 lakh

Jeypore/ Rourkela: In a major crackdown on job scams, Rourkela’s Chhenda police on Tuesday arrested a fraudster from Jeypore of Koraput district in Odisha for duping job aspirants of Rs 40 lakhs.
The accused, identified as Santosh Kumar Sahu, had been promising fake jobs in Railways and other sectors, luring educated youth into parting with their hard-earned money.
According to information received, Sahu would falsely assure job seekers of placements in government and private institutions, collecting money in the process but never delivering on his promises.
The scam came to light after multiple complaints were lodged against him. The Rourkela Chhend police nabbed Sahu, a native of Jeypore area in Koraput district.
During the raid, police seized several fake appointment letters from various government and private institutions, along with mobile phones and other incriminating documents from the accused. The police are now investigating the extent of the scam and other possible accomplices.
