Odisha Vigilance nabs Jajpur Town PS ASI Nanda Kishore Das

Jajpur: Odisha Vigilance today nabbed Jajpur Town Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Nanda Kishore Das while demanding and taking bribe Rs 5000.
The Assistant sleuths was apprehended while the Jajpur Town Police Station ASI was taking the bribe from a small beetle shop owner to help him in a land dispute related case registered in the said PS few days back, of which ASI Sri Das was the Investigating Officer.
Earlier, the beetle shop owner had moved the High Court of Orissa for demarcation of his land. As per orders of High Court, the authority concerned had demarcated the land of beetle shop owner. But, the neighbour of the shop owner with whom the dispute was going on, allegedly demolished the boundary wall constructed by him over the land after demarcation.
On this, the shop owner alleged against the neighbour before Jajpur Town PS authority. But, ASI Das who was the Investigating Officer, paid a visit to the spot, and demanded bribe Rs 10,000 from him to help him in the case. When the poor man expressed his inability to pay the demanded bribe Rs 10,000, ASI Das reduced the bribe amount to Rs 5,000 and warned him of trouble if the demanded bribe was not paid.
Finding no other way, the beetle shop owner reported the matter to Vigilance authorities. Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed the ASI today while taking bribe Rs 5,000 from the beetle shop owner. The entire bribe money Rs 5,000 has been recovered from the possession of accused ASI and seized.
Following the trap simultaneous searches are going on at three locations connected to Jajpur Town Police Station ASI from Disproportionate Asset (DA) angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.34 dtd.07.12.2025 U/s-7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against accused ASI.
