Allegations against Rahul Mamkoottathil are serious

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Allegations against Rahul Mamkoottathil are serious in nature and he should not continue as MLA, said chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Pinarayi unleashed a scathing attack on the Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan for protecting the accused.

“The allegation against the MLA is a serious matter. There’s a general opinion among the public that such a person should not continue in that position. I don’t know how long he can hold on to that position,” Vijayan remarked. He further said that reports of multiple incidents, including one where the victim was allegedly threatened with death if a pregnancy was not aborted, underline the criminal nature of the issue.

Vijayan assured that the government would provide protection to the victims and acknowledged that the incident had tarnished the image of politicians.
