Punjab: Wedding guest dies in hit-and-run
Punjab: One person died while another was seriously injured in a collision on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Pankaj Thakur and the injured as Surinder Kumar. Both are residents of Mat Usra village in Paragpur tehsil of Himachal Pradesh. According to information, the victims had come to the town from Himachal Pradesh after attending a wedding procession.
As the wedding procession reached outside the marriage palace near Adda Bhode ke Khuh on Talwara road, a vehicle hit the victims standing on the roadside and fled. Pankaj died on the spot while Surinder was seriously injured. He has been admitted to a private hospital in Hoshiarpur for treatment. On receiving information, Talwara police reached the spot. They have taken the body into custody and started further investigation. Police are scanning CCTV footage on Talwara-Hajipur road to identify the vehicle involved in the accident.
