Brown sugar worth Rs 17 lakh seized in Odisha’s Balasore, Sheikh Qurban held
Nilagiri: In a big success to police, brown sugar worth Rs 17 lakh has been seized in Balasore district of Odisha on Saturday. One person has been arrested in this connection.
The seizure took place in the Arada Bazar area where 170 gram brown sugar was seized from the possession of the said drug peddler.
The accused has been identified as Sheikh Qurban.
As per reports, yesterday, Sheikh Qurban was selling brown sugar in the Arada Bazar area. On receiving specific information, Sahadevkhunta police reached the spot and nabbed the culprit. During search brown sugar worth Rs 17 lakh and cash of Rs 30,600 was found from him.
It is to be noted that Sheikh Qurban has 12 more cases registered in his name at various police stations.
In the coming days, a strict watch will be kept on the brown sugar illegal traders and to make Balasore brown sugar free, informed Balasore SP Raj Prasad in a press conference today.
