Tamil Nadu: 95% of villages have high-speed internet infrastructure
Tamil Nadu: Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu stated that the construction of high-speed internet infrastructure in 95% of village panchayats in Tamil Nadu has been completed.
In the budget statement, he stated: Tamil Nadu is a pioneer in the development of information technology. It has been decided to provide high-speed internet infrastructure by laying fiber optic cables in all 12,525 village panchayats in Tamil Nadu.
This work is being carried out by the Tamil Nadu Fiber Optic Network Corporation. So far, work has been completed in 95% of the villages (11,953 villages).
On October 11 last year, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin participated and addressed gram sabha meetings in 10,000 villages online.
The interim budget statement allocated ₹219 crore for the Information Technology and Digital Services Department.
