Tamil Nadu: Brothers will face each other for the third time
Tamil Nadu: A. Maharajan from the DMK and his younger brother A. Lokirajan from the AIADMK are contesting elections for the third time.
Thanga Tamilselvan, who contested the 2016 assembly elections from the Andipatti constituency on behalf of the AIADMK, was disqualified after joining the AMMK. Subsequently, in the 2019 by-election for this seat, A. Maharajan contested on behalf of the DMK and his brother A. Lokirajan on behalf of the AIADMK. Maharajan won by a margin of 12,323 votes.
In the 2021 assembly elections, A. Maharajan from the DMK and A. Lokirajan from the AIADMK contested the same seat for the second time. In this election, A. Maharajan won by a margin of 8,538 votes. Consequently, A. Maharajan from the DMK and A. Lokirajan from the AIADMK are contesting the same seat for the third time in the current election.
