Tamil Nadu: Petrol and diesel prices continue to rise amid West Asia tensions

Tamil Nadu: Amidst rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia, the global crude oil market remains volatile. In response to this, petrol and diesel prices were once again hiked on Wednesday (May 27). Fuel prices have risen several times over the past two weeks, directly impacting consumers.
According to reports, the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have impacted global crude oil supplies. This situation has increased the volatility of crude oil prices in the international market, which is impacting the fuel markets of many countries, including India.
Amid these circumstances, petrol and diesel prices are experiencing frequent fluctuations. Several price hikes have been reported within the past two weeks. This increase has placed an additional burden on motorists and the general public.
At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also appealed to citizens to reduce their consumption of petroleum products to mitigate the impact of the global supply crisis. Despite this, fuel prices continued to rise.
Following the latest increase, fuel prices have also changed in major cities across the country. In Chennai, petrol prices have risen by 33 paise per liter to ₹108.20 per liter. Diesel prices have risen by 32 paise per liter to ₹99.98 per liter.
These continuous increases are expected to impact transportation costs, which could lead to changes in the prices of many goods and services in the future. According to market experts, fuel prices are unlikely to stabilize until the international situation normalizes.
Currently, due to global tensions and supply constraints, petrol and diesel prices continue to fluctuate, directly impacting consumers.
