Tamil Nadu: Prema Nandakumar received the Mahakavi Bharathiyar Award from Dinamani.

Tamil Nadu: Writer Prema Nandakumar will be honored with the ‘Dinamani’ Mahakavi Bharati Award on Thursday (December 11).
The Dinamani newspaper has been presenting the Mahakavi Bharati Award to a Bharati scholar every year since 2018. The 2025 award will be given to writer Prema Nandakumar.
Prema Nandakumar is a multifaceted personality, excelling as a writer, essayist, speaker, and researcher. In 1958, she translated the poems of the great poet Bharathiyar under the title ‘Bharati in English Verse’. Her books on Bharathiyar have also been published by the Sahitya Akademi and UNESCO.
On the occasion of Mahakavi Bharathiyar’s birth anniversary, at a function organized by the Dinamani newspaper, Prema Nandakumar will be presented with the Mahakavi Bharathiyar Award at 5:20 PM on Thursday at Sethupathi Higher Secondary School on Madurai North Outer Road.
Dr. Sudha Seshayyan, Vice President of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil Studies, Chennai, will be the special guest and will deliver a special address while presenting the ‘Mahakavi Bharati Award’ to writer Prema Nandakumar. Along with this award, the recipient also receives a check for Rs. 1 lakh. Following this, the recipient, Prema Nandakumar, will deliver her acceptance speech.
The program will be presided over by Shankar Sitaraman, Chairman of the Madurai College Board. Dinamani Editor K. Vaidyanathan will deliver the welcome address. S. Parthasarathy, Secretary of Sethupathi Higher Secondary School, will deliver the vote of thanks.
In Ettayapuram… Earlier on Thursday morning, Dinamani Editor K. Vaidyanathan paid tribute by garlanding the statue of Mahakavi Bharathiyar at the Bharathiyar Manimandapam in Ettayapuram.
Bharati enthusiasts, writers, poets, and Tamil people are expected to participate in these events in large numbers.
