Tamil Nadu: Preparation of new sports policy, hostel allotment to 495 students

Tamil Nadu: The Tamil Nadu government is formulating a new sports policy to strengthen the sports sector in the state. Sports Development Minister Adhav Arjuna stated this. He stated that the government’s aim is to encourage youth to take up sports and establish a new identity for the state in the sports field.
An important event in this direction was held at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai, where a consultation was held for school students regarding accommodation in sports hostels. Minister Adhav Arjuna participated in the event and addressed the students. During the event, he handed over hostel allotment orders to 495 students.
The Minister stated that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the state government is paying special attention to the development of the younger generation and is implementing several schemes to this end. He explained that the government’s focus is not limited to education, but equal attention is also being paid to areas such as sports, health, and social security.
He also stated that work is also being done with the goal of making Tamil Nadu a “drug-free state.” To this end, promoting sports activities is considered an important step, ensuring youth stay away from negative paths and progress in a positive direction.
Minister Adhav Arjuna stated that a total of 27 sports hostels and 6 primary-level hostels are operated in the state under the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority. These hostels provide talented athletes with better training, accommodation, and opportunities to advance in sports.
He stated that the new sports policy aims to further strengthen the sports infrastructure, provide better facilities for athletes, and develop athletes capable of performing at the international level. The government is also working to promote sports in both rural and urban areas.
During the program, officials also discussed the need to expand sports facilities and establish new training centers. The government believes that sports development will not only bring glory to the state but also enhance discipline, health, and self-confidence among youth.
The Tamil Nadu government is planning to make the selection, training and participation of players in international competitions more systematic and effective through a new sports policy in the coming time.
