Tamil Nadu sailor dies on ship stranded in Oman amid Strait of Hormuz crisis
Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: A case of death of an Indian sailor has come to light amid the ongoing tension in the Middle East and increasing restrictions on sea routes. The Indian Embassy has informed that necessary steps are being taken to bring the body of a sailor from Tamil Nadu to India. This sailor was working on a ship which could not cross the Strait of Hormuz due to conditions and was stopped at the port of Oman.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the most important and busiest oil shipping routes in the world. According to reports, traffic on this route has been affected due to increasing tension in the area. It is being told that Iran closed this sea route in response to the activities of America and Israel in the Middle East, after which international shipping was seriously affected.
The situation then became more complicated when the US Navy intensified maritime surveillance and actions aimed at disrupting Iran’s crude oil trade. According to the information, US Navy ships have been in surveillance and siege mode around the ports of the region for the last two months. Due to this, the pressure on maritime trade routes has increased further.
Due to these conditions, the movement of oil and cargo ships around the world has been affected. According to reports, more than a hundred ships are stranded at various places in the sea and are unable to safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The situation has also affected international shipping and trade supply chains.
During this time, the ship on which an Indian sailor was working also had to face this situation. According to the information, the ship had tried to cross the Strait of Hormuz, but was stopped due to the conditions not being normal. Later, on the 20th of last month, the US Navy sank the ship, named M.D. It is said that Celestial was stopped and searched.
After search and investigation, the ship was not allowed to proceed further and was sent back. After this the ship went towards Oman and was parked at Tukum port there. A sailor from Tamil Nadu working on the same ship died during this period.
The Indian Embassy has taken the matter seriously after receiving information about the death of a sailor present in the ship stopped at Tukum port in Oman. According to the embassy, the process to bring back the body to India has been initiated and coordination is being done with the concerned authorities.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of sea routes and the conditions of seafarers working amid international tensions. At present, the concerned agencies are monitoring the situation and further process is going on.
