Paralyzed patient dies after being crushed by water tanker

Janjgir Champa. A paralyzed person died in a road accident in the district. This incident took place near Baloda-Akaltara bus stand at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday, where a speeding water tanker crushed a person walking on the roadside. The deceased has been identified as Santosh Yadav, who was suffering from paralysis and was walking with the help of a stick. The tanker returning from Akaltara after sprinkling water hit him from behind, due to which the tire ran over Santosh’s head and he died on the spot.

After the incident, the local people blocked the main road. Angry people also broke the glass of the tanker. Baloda police station in-charge Ashok Vaishnav reached the spot with the police team and tried to control the situation.

The family of the deceased has demanded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh. An immediate assistance of Rs 25 thousand will be given by the administration through the tehsildar. The police have registered a case and the body is being sent for post-mortem. Investigation of the incident is underway.
