Teacher and principal arrested in schoolgirl’s suicide in Dhanbad, NCPCR will investigate
Dhanbad (IANS). Police have arrested teacher Sindhu Jha and principal RK Singh in connection with the suicide of Usha, a student of St. Xavier’s School, Tetulmari, Dhanbad. Student Usha had reached the school last Monday wearing a bindi. On this the teacher slapped her and expelled her from the school.
When the student’s mother complained to the school principal, he did not listen. Hurt by this incident, the girl student committed suicide by hanging herself.
Here, the Central Child Protection Commission (NCPCR) has taken cognizance of this incident. He has sought a report on the matter from the district administration of Dhanbad.
Commission chairman Priyank Kanungo has tweeted that a team will be sent to Dhanbad to investigate. The student lived in a colony of zero seam area located in Tetulmari, Dhanbad. He doesn’t have a father. She has blamed the teacher and the principal in the suicide note.
The student had written that she was dying because of the insult.
Enraged by this incident, the relatives of the student and the people around blocked the road by keeping the dead body of the student near St. Xavier’s School at around 10.30 am on Tuesday morning. The angry mob tried to enter the school by breaking the lock of the main gate. Regarding the incident, the mother of the girl student, in the FIR registered at Tetulmari police station, blamed teacher Sindhu Jha and principal Rajkishore Singh for her daughter’s death.
Union Tribal Minister Arjun Munda and Jharkhand State BJP President Babulal Marandi also tweeted about the incident and demanded action from the state government against the school management.
