Telangana BJP chief Reddy attends ‘Ravana Dahan’ ceremony in Amberpet
Hyderabad (ANI): Union minister and Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy participated in the ‘Ravana Dahan’ ceremony on Monday night. An effigy of Ravana was burnt during the celebrations in Amberpet. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, the BJP state chief said: “Effigies of Ravana are burnt across the country on the occasion of Vijayadashami. This ceremony symbolizes the victory of good over evil, when Lord Rama killed Ravana and established Ramrajya. I wish all our Hindu brothers and sisters as well as people around the world, rich and poor alike, to celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm on this occasion. People from villages and cities including elders and children celebrate. This festival.”
The upcoming assembly elections in Telangana will see a triangular contest between the BJP, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Congress.
In the last assembly elections in 2018, BRS managed to win 88 out of 119 seats, and secured 47.4 percent of the total votes.
Congress stood second with 19 seats and 28.7 percent vote share.
