Telangana elections: Kharge releases Congress manifesto
Hyderabad. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday released the party’s manifesto which contains six guarantees and several announcements for Telangana. Releasing a 42-page manifesto ‘Abhay Hastam’, the Congress chief said that the attitude of the people of Telangana is that Congress should be brought to power ‘no matter what’.
The six guarantees of the Congress include the promise of giving women Rs 2,500 per month and gas cylinders for Rs 500 as well as 200 units of free electricity to all households if voted to power in the state after the November 30 elections. Under ‘Raitu Bharosa’, the party has promised to provide investment assistance of Rs 15,000 to farmers every year, while Rs 12,000 will be given to laborers working in the fields.
Under ‘Cheyuta’, a social pension of Rs 4,000 and health insurance of Rs 10 lakh has been promised to the eligible beneficiaries. He said, “We have given these in Karnataka and these are being implemented. Due to the free travel scheme in buses, women are going to various temples and other places of worship. We will implement all the six guarantees given to Telangana.”
Kharge said, “The manifesto is like Geeta, Quran and Bible for us. We will implement it.” He said all six guarantees will be passed in the first cabinet meeting. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, the Congress chief said, “Today I can challenge and say that whatever efforts Modi and KCR together make, Congress will definitely come to power.”
