Telangana News: Congress accepted the decision of the people
Hyderabad: The Congress in Telangana accepted the verdict of the people, saying it was a moral victory for the party as its tally in the state increased from three to eight in the Lok Sabha elections. TPCC Working President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud said at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday that the victory of Congress candidate Sri Ganesh in the Secunderabad Cantt by-election was an indication that people were supporting the rule of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The six-month rule of the Congress government in the state was a referendum for the elections. He alleged that the Congress party’s seats could have increased more but for the secret alliance between the BRS and the BJP.
He accused the BRS of fielding weak candidates against BJP candidates in some constituencies. Assuring that the aspirations of the people would be fulfilled by the Congress government, Goud said the party would definitely examine the Lok Sabha election results and rectify the problem if any. Former MP V Hanumantha Rao said that it was the failure of the BRS that helped the BJP increase its seats in the state. He said people did not trust BJP’s ‘Ab Ki Baar 400 Paar’ campaign and the results of Uttar Pradesh reflect the mood of the people. He said the results have once again proved that the exit polls were false and the Bharatiya Janata Party has received the overwhelming support of the people. Former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav said people across the country are fed up with the BJP government and want a change at the Centre. The former MP demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should tender his resignation in view of the people’s verdict. Some leaders along with party workers at Gandhi Bhavan burst firecrackers and danced to the beats of drums. He claimed that the Congress was successful in ensuring that the BJP did not win in the Lok Sabha elections.
