The. Announcement of Africa Cricket, women cricketers will get equal match fees
Johannesburg (IANS). In South Africa, both male and female cricketers will receive the same match fees for international matches. The South Africa Cricket Board has taken a big decision. Now this country has also joined the list of countries which give equal salary to women players as compared to the men’s team.
Along with New Zealand and India, now South Africa has also joined the chain of bringing equality between men’s and women’s cricket.
The change began this year when the ICC made a historic announcement that equal prize money has been kept for men’s and women’s teams in ICC events.
Leading figures from across the country’s cricket world gathered in Tshwane on Tuesday to talk about the early start of their domestic women’s competition and announced equal pay for both male and female players at the international level.
The match fee revision for South Africa’s women cricketers will begin next month when they travel to Pakistan for a six-match white-ball tour.
It has been a wonderful 18 months for the South African women’s team, during which the team’s performance in the World Cup has also been impressive.
Not only would women’s international players earn the same match fees as men’s, but women’s domestic leagues would also be professional.
“The purpose of professionalizing the domestic league is to give the best possible exposure to local talent, while also inspiring the next generation to take women’s cricket forward,” said Cricket South Africa CEO Pholetsi Moseki.
