In Chennai, 100 flights were affected for the fourth consecutive day.

Tamil Nadu: Passengers were in shock as more than 100 flights were affected at Chennai Airport for the fourth consecutive day. Chaos erupted at the airport as passengers with IndiGo flight tickets were not allowed inside.
On Friday, for the fourth day, IndiGo Airlines’ flight services were severely disrupted across the country. Approximately 550 IndiGo flights were canceled across India, with more than 100 IndiGo flights reportedly canceled at Chennai Airport alone.
Passenger dispute: The airline did not inform passengers with Friday’s flight tickets whether their flights would operate or not. As a result, passengers who arrived at Chennai Airport had to wait for a long time.
Later, more than 100 airline passengers surrounded the IndiGo office and argued with the staff. This led to the deployment of additional Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel. Meanwhile, passengers arriving at the airport were stopped outside.
Later, only those traveling on flights other than IndiGo were allowed inside the airport.
Fares increased manifold: Due to the disruption of IndiGo flights, other airlines increased their fares significantly. Accordingly, the fare for a Chennai to Bengaluru flight was increased from Rs 3,129 to Rs 20,599. The Chennai-Trichy fare was increased from Rs 3,129 to Rs 14,961, and the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram fare from Rs 6,805 to Rs 34,403.
The Chennai-Mumbai fare was increased from Rs 5,980 to Rs 42,448, and the Chennai-Delhi fare from Rs 7,746 to Rs 32,782. Airfares to other destinations were also increased manifold, causing considerable hardship to passengers. Box Message…
