The central government is opposing incentives for paddy: the CM complains in Thanjavur

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that the Central Government’s advice to the Tamil Nadu government not to provide incentives for paddy is the biggest betrayal of farmers.

At a campaign meeting organized by the Secular Progressive Alliance at the Thanjavur Tilak Stadium on Friday evening, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed DMK candidates K. Chezhiyan (Thiruvidaimaruthur), Durai Chandrasekharan (Thiruvaiyar), Sen. Ramanathan (Thanjavur), R. Vaithilingam (Orathanadu), Sakkottai K. Anbazhagan (Kumbakonam), Ga. Annadurai (Pattukottai), N. Ashokkumar (Peravurani), and Indian Union Muslim League candidate A.M. Shahjahan (Papanasam): 30 lakh farmers benefited: During the four years of Palaniswami’s tenure as Chief Minister, the state government did not increase the paddy incentives given to the farmers who feed Tamil Nadu by even a single rupee. Similarly, during our Dravidian Model rule, we increased this incentive for premium rice from ₹70 to ₹156 per quintal, and for regular rice from ₹50 to ₹131 per quintal. That’s why we’ve kept what we promised in the 2021 DMK election manifesto: we’ll give ₹2,500 per quintal for paddy. Over the past five years, more than ₹2,500 crore has been given in incentives alone, benefiting 3 million farmers. Similarly, as stated in the 2026 election manifesto, the next Dravidian Model 2.0 rule will give ₹3,500. I assure you, we’re going to give ₹3,500. The right price is certain: no matter how much the central BJP government and Palaniswami’s AIADMK try to stop it, no matter how many schemes they devise to stop it, this Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin will defeat it. I will ensure fair prices for the farmers who feed the world. Try to stop this if you can.
