Uttarkashi: After successfully rescuing all 41 workers trapped inside Uttarakhand’s Silkyara Tunnel for 17 days, international tunneling expert Arnold Dix on Wednesday said that although there were many challenges in the rescue operation, there was a joint sense of purpose to save the 41 workers. People faced all the challenges.
When asked about what kind of challenges were faced during the rescue operation, Arnold Dix said, “I think it would be better to say what kind of challenges did we not face? And what we did not encounter was a united spirit of purpose to save 41 people. This is the challenge we did not face. We don’t have that in many places. “Everyone knew we were bringing those people home.”
Speaking about the mantra for the success of the operation, the international tunneling expert said that they remained calm and knew what they wanted.

“We worked as an amazing team. And when I talk about an amazing team, the best engineers in India, the Army, their engineers, the best engineers I have ever worked with, all the agencies, federal authorities, states, for all the people, it There was only one happiness. It is a pleasure to be a part of this successful mission,” he said.
Speaking further about his temple visit after the success of the rescue operation, Dix said he had promised to thank God for the safe rescue and evacuation of all the trapped workers.

“If you haven’t noticed, I think we just witnessed a miracle,” he said.
The international tunnel expert further reacted to the Australian Prime Minister congratulating him and Indian officials for the successful rescue operations and said, “Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister. But as an Australian, sir, if you’re watching, it’s my pleasure and I’m happy to show that we are not only brilliant at cricket, I love cricket, but we are also good at other things including tunnel rescue. even do.”
Speaking to ANI, Dix further said that this rescue was different compared to other rescue operations he had conducted, as no one was hurt during this operation, which usually does not happen in rescue operations.

“It is quite different,” he said. It was absolutely fantastic.”
Talking about his liking towards India, the international tunneling expert said that he liked Indian vegetarian food very much. “North Indian vegetarian food is so delicious, I feel like I could go to North India,” Dix said. All 41 laborers trapped in the Silkyari Tunnel of Uttarakhand since November 12 were rescued safely on Tuesday evening.
On 12 November, a section of the tunnel between 205 and 260 meters collapsed on the Silkyara side. Workers who were beyond the 260 meter mark became trapped, their exit blocked.
The rescued workers were garlanded with orange marigold flowers and welcomed by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister VK Singh.
CM Dhami announced that the Uttarakhand government will provide financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to each worker trapped in the Silkyara tunnel.
