The country is going to get Asia’s longest and highest tunnel

There are many such areas in India, where small tunnels have been made by cutting the mountains, so that the traffic on the mountains can be done smoothly. Till now, the crown of the longest and biggest tunnel up to 9.02 km was named after Atal Tunnel. But in the coming time, this crown is going to be named after Zojila Tunnel, on which half the work has been done.

how long will this tunnel be
This tunnel will be 14.5 km long, which will directly connect Jammu and Kashmir with Ladakh. This will save people both time and money. It is being speculated that after the construction of this tunnel, the journey will be completed within 1 hour.

This technology has been used
The tunnel is being constructed using the New Austrian Tunneling Method. Which includes safety of tunnel, safety of work force and speed of work. This method is also used for the construction of tunnels in Europe and North America.

Have a safe journey
Earlier, army soldiers and people had to go around to cover this journey, but once this tunnel starts, reaching Ladakh and Jammu-Kashmir will be more secure. Because snowfall is more in these union territories, due to which the roads get jammed.

By when will the work be completed?
According to Sanjay Sharma, site in-charge of MEIL, this tunnel will be the longest tunnel at the highest altitude in Asia. Several challenges are at work in the Young Himalayan range. But the main challenge lies outside the tunnel. For the first two years, work continued here even during the winter months. This tunnel project will be completed by the year 2026.
