The crime committed by Anwar Dhebar undermines human rights, hence no bail
Bilaspur. A bench of Justice Arvind Kumar Verma in the High Court rejected the bail application of Raipur resident businessman Anwar Dhebar with a remark. The bench said that the Supreme Court has described corruption as not only a punishable offense, but also an act that indirectly undermines human rights. The court said that systematic corruption gives rise to economic crimes, which have a serious impact on the economy of the entire country.
It is known that on July 11, 2023, the Economic Offences Research Bureau and the Anti-Corruption Bureau had registered a case against Anwar Dhebar. He is accused of forming a syndicate with co-accused Anil Tuteja, Arunpati Tripathi (MD, CSMCL), Vikas Agarwal, Sanjay Dewan and other excise officials and collecting illegal commission from liquor sales in the state. Dhebar was charged under sections 420 (fraud), 468 (forgery), 471 (use of forged document) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. He was arrested in April 2024.
The Enforcement Directorate also registered a separate case in this matter in November 2024, in which the investigation of economic crime aspects is going on.
