The family members of the accused beat up the police team that came to arrest him
Agra. In Agra late on Friday night, the policemen who came to serve the non-bailable warrant of the court were beaten up by the family members of the accused and tore their uniforms. On Saturday, Lohamandi police station officer Jitendra Kumar said that efforts are being made to arrest the accused and named and unknown people, all are absconding.
According to the police, the court had issued a non-bailable warrant in a case against Shanu Qureshi of Khatipada of Lohamandi police station area of Agra. Police reached his house late on Friday night to serve the warrant. The police arrested him after giving him information about the warrant. On receiving this information, the family members of accused Shanu Qureshi reached the spot.
He called other people also. According to the police, during this time they started demanding the release of Shanu Qureshi. The police informed him about the court order. Despite this, they threw the policemen off the bike, beat them up and pelted stones at them and freed Sanu from their custody.
A case has been registered against Shanu Qureshi, his brother, Haji Mohammad alias Babu, Imran Qureshi, Gulfam, Aslam, Totla Pathan, Nadeem and 25 unidentified people on charges of attacking the police, assault and tearing the uniform.
