The final decision on the chairperson of the State Women’s Commission is expected this week.
The state government is expected to reach a final decision on the appointment of the new chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) within the current week. Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh shared this information after a thorough review of departmental matters on Monday. Minister Lyngdoh highlighted that, in addition to the four names recommended by the search committee, two additional applications have been received. In the pursuit of transparency and to ensure a fair opportunity for all candidates, the government extended the application deadline beyond the recommendations of the search committee. “We want complete transparency, and to give everyone a fair chance, we said we will go ahead with the names recommended by the search committee, which is why we put out an advertisement seeking applications from interested candidates. So, in that process, two more applications have reached us,” said Minister Lyngdoh. He further stressed that the final decision will be taken this week as the deadline for submitting applications has already passed.
