Rampur: When the day’s procession reached Azimnagar police station area in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh at night, there was a ruckus. The angry girl started beating the groom. During this time the wedding guests were chased and beaten. The wedding guests also beat up the youth from the girl’s side severely. As soon as the information about the fight was received, the police reached the spot. Seeing the police coming, the accused slipped away from the spot. The police have taken the groom’s father into custody.

The matter is of Chaudhary Marriage Hall Imrata of Azimnagar police station area. There was a wedding ceremony in the marriage hall on Thursday in which two wedding processions were to come. A wedding procession reached the marriage hall as per the scheduled time. But the second procession did not reach till around four o’clock. When contacted during this time, it was found that the groom had run away from home. When the procession did not reach till evening, the matter reached the police. When the police came into action, the search for the groom started. The groom was caught near a sugarcane field, some distance away from the village. The groom left the house to his in-laws’ house with about a dozen wedding guests. When the wedding procession reached the marriage hall at around 9 pm, there was an uproar. Outpost incharge Yogesh Kumar reached the marriage hall. Seeing the police coming, the accused ran away from the spot.
