Beijing: In a bizarre incident reported from China’s Yunnan province, a thief’s efforts took an unexpected turn when he was caught red-handed while napping during a robbery. The robber broke into a house in southwest China’s Yunnan province, but panicked when he heard people talking inside.
The thief, known by his surname Yang, snored loudly and eventually woke up the homeowner, Ms Tang, from her sleep, the South China Morning Post reported. They initially dismissed the noise as coming from a neighbor’s house, but later realized that the source was much closer than expected.
Upon investigating, she found that the unexpected guest, Mr. Yang, was sleeping peacefully on the floor in the other room. Ms. Tang immediately contacted her family and the police, which led to the arrest of the intruder.
Police revealed that the intruder had a criminal history and was also sent to jail for theft in 2022. After being released in September, he resumed his “old profession”, police said, adding that his case is currently under investigation.
This happened when a thief who broke into a house in Thailand to steal valuables got tired and fell asleep. But in an unfortunate turn for him, the house belonged to a police officer. The policeman woke up the thief from his sleep and arrested him for trespassing.
