Three arrested with 1.5 kg fake gold

Guwahati (IANS). Assam Police, as part of its crackdown against fake gold, arrested three smugglers and recovered a fake gold idol from them.

On Monday, based on specific information about the presence of gold smugglers, the police conducted a search operation in Borigaon Tiniyali of Gohpur in Sonitpur district.

Police arrested three people who had come to the area to sell fake gold.

Mukhtar Hussain, Sariful Islam and Rafiqul Ali have been identified among those caught by the police. All of them are natives of Bihpuria in Lakhimpur district.

Police have also recovered two mobile phones from them. According to the police, the weight of the seized gold was 1.5 kg.
