Three people involved in various crimes including snatching of cell phones were arrested in Chennai.

Tamil Nadu: Police have arrested three people involved in various criminal activities, including snatching cell phones from pedestrians on two-wheelers in and around Madhavaram, near Chennai.
The two-wheeler used in the theft and five expensive cell phones were also seized.
Based on complaints of mysterious people on two-wheelers snatching cell phones in areas around Madhavaram and Puzhal in Chennai, Puzhal Assistant Commissioner Sibukumar ordered the immediate arrest of the criminals involved.
Madhavaram Crime Branch Inspector Gopinath registered a case, conducted a thorough investigation, and formed a special team. They then used CCTV footage from near the scene to search for the criminals.
In this situation, three people suspiciously parked on an expensive two-wheeler near the Madhavaram roundabout were arrested on suspicion and brought to the police station for questioning.
Initially, police investigations revealed that Tamilselvan (24), Mohammed Sharif (20), and Vinoth (19), all residents of Keerai Thottam, Washermanpet, were involved in the robbery. They had already stolen a man’s expensive two-wheeler worth ₹1.5 lakh in Chevvaipet and were heading to Washermanpet. On the way, they threatened pedestrians and people waiting for buses in the Puzhal and Madhavaram areas at midnight and snatched their cell phones. They sold them at half price in the market and used the money to buy marijuana and spend it on their girlfriends.
Subsequently, police registered a case against the three men, arrested them, seized an expensive two-wheeler and five cell phones, produced them in the Madhavaram court, and imprisoned them in Puzhal jail.
It was also revealed that theft cases were pending against them at Washermanpet, Marina, Royapuram, Old Washermanpet, Periyapalayam, and Ezhuvinaru police stations.
Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner Arun IPS praised Madhavaram Crime Branch Inspector Gopinath and the special police team for their thorough investigation in finding the culprits.
