Tiger Tracks Found in Kollapur Range, Officials Warn of Danger

Kollapur: The movement of a tiger in the Engampalli Thanda village area of the Somashila section of the Kollapur range is causing a stir. As soon as the information was received, the Kollapur forest department officials rushed to the scene on the orders of the district forest department senior officers DFO, FDO and FRO.
The officials conducted extensive observations in the surrounding areas, agricultural fields and forest border areas of Engampalli Thanda village. After technically examining the footprints and other traces found in the fields during this observation, forest department officials Kasanna and Mujeeb Ghori confirmed that they were not the tracks of a big cat.
Along with the Engampally Thanda, under the leadership of forest border village Sarpanch Gopi Nayak, awareness programs were organized in the villages to inform the people to be vigilant. They were advised not to go alone in the fields especially at night, not to send small children towards forest areas, and to be vigilant while protecting sheep and cattle.
He asked the forest department officials to immediately inform them if a tiger is seen or suspicious movements are noticed. He said that anyone who sets traps or electric currents in crop fields will be punished with 10 years in prison as per the Forest Act 1972. Forest Department Kolhapur Range Officer Makhdoom Hussain clarified that action will be taken without any compromise on public safety.
