Toilet waste is flowing back into the drains; the foul smell is causing problems for the shopkeepers.

Kerala: Traders, including those directly affected by the problem, are once again facing the issue of sewage overflowing onto the road. A blockage in the septic tank of a shopping complex in Keecheripadi is causing the sewage to spill onto the street. This is a private business complex housing several businesses, banks, and more. Residents in the surrounding area are suffering due to the foul odor. When complaints are made, the problem is addressed with false assurances. City council officials are also being criticized for their inaction. Workers from other states reside in the quarters in front of the building. It has been four days since the sewage started overflowing from the compound. Complaints have been filed with the Palathwana Municipal Council and the Collector.

Just a few months ago, a system was installed to prevent the overflow of sewage, but the sewage has started overflowing again, spreading a foul odor throughout the area. The traders also reported that several shops are unable to open. They further stated that when complaints are made, no action is taken beyond mere investigations. A permanent solution to this problem is urgently needed.
