Tourist Accident: Four Dead, 14 Injured in Gorge Fall
Shimla: A tempo in which tourists were travelling fell into a gorge. Four people, including two women, died in the accident. 14 other tourists were seriously injured. They were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment. (Tempo Falls Into Gorge) The incident took place in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. 22 tourists, including two children, were travelling in a tempo on Saturday night. The vehicle, which was returning from the Jalori Pass and was descending towards Bhuntar, slipped off the road and fell into the gorge due to rains.
Meanwhile, police and fire officials reached the spot immediately after receiving the information. They carried out rescue operations along with locals at night. Four tourists, including two women, were found dead on the spot.
Meanwhile, 18 tourists were rescued and brought up from the valley. Of them, 14 are being treated at the hospital for injuries. The condition of one of the injured is critical, a police officer said. The tourists were reportedly staying at a hotel in Jhibi, about 10 km from the town of Banjar where the accident took place.
