Trade war, security concerns top issues at Shanghai auto show

World World: The Shanghai auto show opened this year amid China’s trade war and security concerns. Increasing competition in the Chinese market and uncertainties over the US-China trade war have put pressure on auto manufacturers to launch new models. More than 100 new models were showcased at the Shanghai Auto Show, mainly featuring a growing number of electric vehicles (EVs).

The trade war has led to US President Donald Trump imposing a 145% tariff on auto parts imported from China, which has impacted global sales.
