Trinamool leader arrested on molestation charges
Kolkata (IANS). An influential Trinamool Congress leader was arrested on Sunday on charges of molesting a woman in Bangaon, India-Bangladesh border subdivision of North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
The arrested leader is Dr. Subrata Sarkar, a former member of Gaighata Panchayat Samiti of Bangaon sub-division, who is also a popular doctor in his area. He was arrested after a 24-year-old woman accused him of molestation.
Local police sources said that as per the complaint lodged by the victim and her family members at Gaighata police station, she had gone to the chamber of the accused doctor for medical examination. Taking advantage of the empty chamber there on Saturday evening, the accused doctor molested her.
The woman somehow managed to escape from his clutches. She returned home and narrated the entire incident to her family members. Let us tell you that the accused doctor was working as his family doctor for some time.
The family members along with neighbors gathered in front of the chamber of the accused doctor leader and started protesting there. Police from the local police station reached the spot and arrested the accused.
