Turtles weighing 1000 kg seized alive in Odisha’s Malkangiri dist, 2 smugglers arrested, watch

Malkangiri: In a big success, the Forest Department of Chitrakonda seized turtles weighing about 1000 kg, kept in 35 sacks in Malkangiri district of Odisha on Monday.

The Chitrakonda Forest Department officials caught the turtles’ traffickers at Rajulkonda area in the border area of Chitrakonda.

As per reports, the turtles were being illegally transported from Narasinghpatna of Andhra Pradesh to MV79 area of Malkangiri district in Odisha.

The Forest officials chased a Max Pick up van as it entered into Odisha border speedily. The Forest officials then intercepted the vehicle and searched.

Upon searching they found that turtles were being trafficked in as many as 35 sacks. Two mafias have been arrested in this connection.
