Two accused of stealing gold and silver jewelery arrested
Raipur. Two accused who stole gold and silver jewelery by breaking the lock of an empty house have been arrested. According to the information, Prabhat Shankar Mishra lodged a report in police station Khamtarai that he resides with his family in Ashok Vihar Khamtarai. The applicant’s brother-in-law Ashok Kumar Pandey, who along with his family lives in Ward No. 16, Shakti Para Urkura, that the applicant’s brother-in-law along with his family had gone to Ghazipur Uttar Pradesh for a family engagement program on 24.06.2023 by locking their house. On 26.06.2023, when the applicant saw his brother-in-law’s house, the main gate of the house was locked and inside the hall door was seen open, on which the applicant, his brother and other people went inside and saw that all the three rooms inside were locked. It was broken and the door was open and the lock of the almirah kept inside the room was broken and the belongings were scattered. An unknown thief broke open the lock of the deserted house of the applicant’s brother-in-law Ashok Kumar Pandey and entered inside and stole gold, silver jewelery and cash kept in the almirah. On which crime number 557/23 section 457, 380 Bhadvi was registered against the unknown accused in police station Khamtarai. Offense was registered.
Under the guidance of senior officers and station in-charge Khamtrai, the police team of police station Khamtrai started tracing the unknown accused by interrogating the applicant, his brother and the nearby people in detail regarding the incident. CCTV installed at the scene of the incident and its surroundings by the members of the team. Camera footage was reviewed. In the case, an informer was also appointed to trace the unknown accused. On the basis of the incident, the activities of the old and recently released from jail were also being verified and a constant watch was being kept on their activities. Meanwhile, the team members got information that Bhupendra Sahu alias Vakil, who has been imprisoned in theft cases in the past as well, was seen along with another person near the incident site late night. On which the team members traced Bhupendra Sahu alias Vakil and caught him. On strict inquiry on the basis of the evidence obtained, the accused along with his other accomplice Gajendra Sahu alias Pappu were told to carry out the said incident of theft. On which the accused Gajendra Sahu alias Pappu involved in the incident was also arrested. Both the accused were arrested and action was taken against the accused by seizing stolen gold and silver jewelery worth about Rs 3,00,000/- from their possession. Both the accused are habitual criminals, who have been jailed in the past in other cases including theft, assault.
