Maharashtra: Two horrific incidents of sexual abuse of dogs have occurred in Mumbai in the past few days, shocking animal welfare advocates. The severity of these crimes has sparked a heated debate about India’s evolving legal landscape, with activists warning that recent changes to the criminal code have left animals more vulnerable than ever before.
Malad Puppy Abuse Case
On Sunday, Vikas Paswan (20) was allegedly caught red-handed by a local animal feeder and other residents inside a public toilet in Narayan Shukla Chawl, Kurar village, Malad, while sexually abusing a two-month-old puppy.
The accused, a resident of the same chawl, had allegedly locked the helpless puppy inside and abused it, but was apprehended when locals heard the puppy’s cries.
